THE BENVENUTO INTERNATIONAL CLUB OF VARESE
We are an English-speaking,
women’s club based in Varese, Italy (MAP).
Our purpose is to welcome English-speaking women from
all over the world (including Italy of course!) and help
them make new friends. We are non-profit, non-political,
and non-denominational, and we welcome women from all
nationalities.
A monthly Coffee
Morning, free for members, is our principal meeting
time, and it is more a social function than anything.
Most Coffee Mornings have a theme, which is decided by
the board at the beginning of the year and the theme is
communicated in the Newsletter (Voice of Varese).
The members animate many other activities to help fellow
women enjoy their stay in the area. When you become a
member, you too are invited to take part in our activities
and start your own if you like! Members also receive a
monthly newsletter detailing activities and events taking
place over the month.

New Members'
Coffee: Held once a month as reported in the Voice of
Varese or at the General Coffee Morning.

Library: In
February 2006 our then President Janet Balducci
signed a formal agreement with the Mayor of Bodio
Lomnago to allow that town's public library to host
our about 2000 books in English. Our books
have joined the Biblioteche della Valbossa which now
boasts the largest English Library in the Varese
area. All members of the Benvenuto Club are
eligible for library membership - all you have to do
is go along to the library at Bodio Lomnago and show
your Benvenuto Club membership.

Fundraising
for our selected charity. This year this is "Progetto
Ponte".

Language Groups:
French, Spanish and German conversation groups, and the English/Italian
language exchange are held monthly.

Special Activities:
guided walking tours; trips to castles, cities, villas,
exhibitions and holiday activities.

Benvenuto
Players: Meet weekly and stage 2 theatrical production
every year.

International
Cookery Exchange: Groups of different nationalities
meet at each other's homes presenting something delicious
from their country.

Other activities:
Bridge, Crafts, Golf, Intuitive Painting, Ladies'
Night Out, Luncheon Group/Recipe Exchange, Mums &
Tots, Outings with Children, Squash, Tennis, Walking.
The club was started 35
years ago and is run on a volunteer basis. A Board
is elected on a yearly basis and funding is drawn from
members and local business donations.

How to get thereTennis:
Coming from Varese - from the Esselunga Masnago go in the
direction of Luvinate (across the roundabout), you'll pass
garden centre Pozzi on your right, then turn the first left
after the Pharmacy (also on your right). You are now
at the Tennis Club, parking is allowed on the premises of
the club.
Coming from Gavirate - just before leaving Casciago you'll
see a Pharmacy a little distance ahead of you to the left,
turn right before that. You are now at the Tennis
Club, parking is allowed on the premises of the club. TOP
